Did you know that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month? (Think pink!) Though spreading awareness is a year-round initiative, we’ve compiled a few extra ways to get involved during this special pink-filled month.

Practice Prevention

It all starts with you. Get hands-on with your health by scheduling an annual visit with your doctor. Many breast cancer symptoms are not noticeable without a professional screening, such as a mammogram or ultrasound. However, by looking out for certain changes in your breasts and being proactive about your breast health, some symptoms can be caught early.

To help understand the different indications of breast cancer, organizations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation provide resources, such as their Know The Symptoms Guide, to educate on the different signs and symptoms of breast cancer; download your free guide here. By practicing early prevention techniques, we can slowly increase awareness of this disease.

Volunteer Your Time

From serving as a research advisor to volunteering at a local race, there are tons of big and little ways to give back to the greater community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One easy way to get involved is by devoting time to research and other advocacy efforts. For example, according to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The Komen Advocates in Science (AIS) program trains volunteers to be active in different types of research programs. This opportunity is an exciting, proactive way to contribute to finding the cures!

Participate in Fundraisers

Lace up your shoes and hit the ground running with one of the many fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Alongside friends, family, survivors, and other supporters, spirited souls can get invigorated at these types of events. (Not to mention, the amazing matching outfits!) Take your crew’s attire to the next level by supporting the cause with our Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness no-show socks. From 3-day walks to virtual runs, the possibilities are endless when it comes to fundraising for the cause.

No matter how big or small, everything you to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month makes a difference. Whichever way you choose to get involved, it will make an impact in your own life and even the lives of others.
